College President is at the podium- To the incoming undergraduate class of 2019 welcome This year marks an endeliable occasion You are the ones who are around the same age as the oldest daughter of the president of the United States of America and may I say it- OFFICIALLY THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT of this country 

You enter this university with a consciousness that is different than any other class before you Since the age of nine or ten or eleven all you have known is the experience of an African American as the leader of the USA

You all are different And at the same time there is still racism poverty illiteracy sexism all the wrongs that humankind has declared war on each other and the environment still exist 

So what does all of this 

and that 

mean for the students who have decided to continue this curious web of life hopefully with the vision of making this world a better place?

Well for me and a few of my colleagues what it means is that we have decided to join you on this knowledge quest I am now a full time STUDENT majoring in chemistry 

So I join others who have to hold downa full time job while getting a degree 

PRESIDENT TAKES OFF SUIT JACKET PUTS ON COLLEGE LOGO BOMBER JACKET AND LOGO BASEBALL HAT

So when you see me in my class or in the library or dining hall Whatever I am wearing I am also in the class of 2019 and I join you as a student and administrator in the continued process of making this world a better place for all people
