Richard Simmons is still alive? I thought he died back in the late 90s.

Simmons seems like a nice guy. However, he appeals to a very narrow
audience. I can understand when the white house had a wide spectrum of
options they may not have chosen him...especially since they were
focusing on children and young people and Simmons has greater appeal to
older folks.

Perfectly put. He wants to help, for which he deserves great credit
(and he has helped quite a few people), but the question has to be how
helpful he could be with the particular job they're trying to accomplish
in this area. (Which he clearly understands the importance of, too. I
just wish he hadn't publicly talked about this -- that actually will
make it more difficult for them to do something nice for him for wanting
to help.)
